Numbers and Trends

I love numbers and trends.  That's the second reason for keeping any sort of blog stats. (The main reason is to find interesting places to visit that I might otherwise miss.)

So, in examining my blog stat for several weeks I've noted an overall trend that I have not yet been able to discern the reason for.  Every week the "spike" in the week occurs on Tuesday.  Tuesday tend to have significantly higher visit rates than any other day.  I want to know why.  Are the spiderbots released on Tuesday to do their weekly webbing and indexing tasks--have people recovered from the downer of returning to work and now rejoined the blogging world?  Inquiring minds want to know.

    Interesting.

    I just checked mine and the eight highest days in the past thirty were as follows:
    Sunday 4;
    Monday 1;
    Tuesday 1;
    Wed 1;
    Sat. 1.

    Do you put up more posts on Tuesday than any other day? Or, do you put up a certain type of post on Tuesday?

    Not that I'm aware of. It's possible that I post more--I don't think that is true--but the mix is always the same--gleanings from other sites with my comments and a few original pieces.

    Well, if you are doing something different on Tuesday, it isn't very noticeable, at least to me, anyway.

    It would be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Another Queen of Night

I post this because whenever I recommend to anyone the Queen of Night, I always recommend it in the Lucia Popp rendition.  It's a matter of personal taste, but what I love about this is that it is somewhat slower than the other versions and as a result, it would seem to me somewhat more difficult to perform and sustain--those high notes in which the Queen's voice becomes the Magic Flute itself are rounded, full, and deep while remaining light and airy. I have read some rather severe criticism of this ritardando; and while it may or may not reflect Mozart's intent, it is certainly within the options for staging.  It creates a real vocal showpiece from what is already a magnificent example of same. It really is an amazing example of a virtuoso composition sung by a virtuoso voice.  All of which should not be taken to mean that I do not truly appreciate the version posted earlier by Diana Damrau, it's just nice to see what a difference tempo can make.
