Perhaps the most delightful friendships are those in which there is much agreement, much disputation, and yet more personal liking.
George Eliot (1819-1880)
If you haven't read it, this is one of those books you do yourself a service by reading. Complex, entangled, a satire and an intriguing look at Stalinist Russia.
This is a novel that requires multiple readings--for complex and entangled it clearly is. A book club I belong to scheduled it several years ago and we spent most of the time trying to untangle it--one suggested that surreal would be a good description.
Definitely on my "to read" list. I started out with Heart of a Dog as my intro to Bulgakov and loved it...I'm definitely looking forward to reading this.
