Octoberation

The most merciful thing in the world, I think is the inability of the human mind to correlate all of its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.

  1. Stephen,

A very ironic opener since his fictions do voyage very far from that placid island of ignorance and his readers read him because they are enchanted by these far voyages.

  3. Dear Fred,

Indeed. One of the great and powerful works that H. P. has done. I'm fascinated by both the strengths and the weaknesses of his art.
